Sponsoring a child costs $43 per month. This investment helps ensure the child you sponsor receives the love, care, and resources they need to grow, thrive, and build a hopeful future.

The sponsorship helps , provide the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual care children need to thrive, from medical care to education.  

While individual support may look slightly different based on each child’s unique needs, every sponsored child receives the following:

* Protection from abuse: Children are surrounded by trained, trusted adults who prioritize their safety and teach them how to advocate for themselves

* Care for their health: Children are monitored for malnutrition, receive annual medical checkups, and are provided care when they are hurt or sick. 

* Educational opportunities: Each child receives access to a quality education, equipping them with the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams and become thriving adults.

* Support during disasters: When disasters strike, children receive emergency assistance such as clean water, shelter, and emotional care, including counseling.

*Ongoing love and support: Children are supported by pastors, volunteers, and staff who care deeply for them—and they are encouraged by you, their sponsor, through prayer and messages that remind them just how loved they are.

* The hope of the gospel: Each child is connected to a local church, where they hear the gospel and experience the love of Jesus in a caring community.

Your sponsorship does more than meet immediate needs—it helps create lasting change by nurturing the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.

While long-term sponsorship is encouraged because it creates lasting impact, there is no long-term obligation required to participate.

We are inviting partners to commit to a minimum one-time gift of $43 per child, which provides immediate support for essentials such as food, education, and healthcare. Ideally, sponsors may choose to extend their support for 3–4 months, allowing the child to receive continued care and creating space for meaningful engagement, such as written communication or message exchanges when available.

Most importantly, sponsorships are completely flexible. Sponsors may cancel at any time, for any reason, with no explanation or penalty.

Yes, all donations made through tax-deductible through tax-deductible Compassion International are tax deductible in the United States. 

You have the option to select one of 29 countries where Compassion International currrently serves.

While we encourage you to consider selecting a girl from the DOMINCAN REPUBLIC, because of our partnership with Lola Tomorrows Enterprise which,  is building a community center in the Dominican Republic, we do leave it up to you to select the child and country that speaks most to your our heart at the time of selection.

Yes. Each child has only one sponsor, which is why your prayers, messages and  support mean so much to them. This one-to-one match allows you to show a child they’re valued and loved, which is important to their well-being.

At Compassion, we’re serious about financial integrity and stewarding your donation to make the biggest impact. Every penny of your support goes toward releasing children from poverty. 

For example, at least 80% of your gift covers the specific care a child needs, from medical checkups and nutrition support to protection from abuse. The other percentage equips us to help children in a different way; by paying for administration, marketing and fundraising so we can grow to reach even more children in need.

As a sponsor, you can write to the child you sponsor either through physical mail or online through our website or app (Android/Apple). 

After you send a message, the Compassion International field staff will translate and deliver it to the child you sponsor. We recommend writing two to six times a year, but you’re free to write as often as you like. 

The child you sponsor will write to you at least twice a year and up to six times per year, depending on the frequency of your messages. A tutor, staff member or family member will help children who don’t yet read and write. 

You’ll also get an annual message from a local leader, such as a pastor or staff member, to help you learn even more about the child’s region.
